Dynamic Stability Analysis of a Tapered Pre-Twisted Timoshenko Beam Subjected to Axial Temperature Variation with Axial Springs Throughout the Perforated Holes

This study has focused its discussion on the stability of a linearly-tapered Timoshenko beam with its associated twist for the increase of strength to weight ratio. The beam is considered with internal holes filled by spring throughout the holes along its length, exposed to the temperature environment and axial varying load. Stability regions such as principal and combination resonances are obtained using Hamilton’s equation, Galerkin’s energy equation and finally Saito Otomi’s method. By selecting suitable relative values of stiffness and mass of the spring, the overall stability can be improved with an increase in strength to weight ratio. It has been confirmed that for the above-considered beam, stability is improved due to internal springs whereas stability reduces because of spring mass. Different matrices such as for stiffness and mass are obtained by energy method. The weight is also reduced by making axial throughout holes in it. The effects of various parameters such as spring mass, spring stiffness, pre-twist angle, tapered parameter, temperature gradient, diameter of holes with its locations, shear parameter and also bending coefficients have been studied.
