Cell-specific analysis of microglia following partial brain proton irradiation in mice
In recent years, proton therapy has been established as a curative treatment for pediatric brain tumors and has demonstrated significant potential for adult brain tumors [1,2]. The advantage of proton radiotherapy lies in the depth-dose profile, which results in dose deposition within the Bragg-peak, substantially reducing exposure behind the tumor volume. Despite this physical advantage, its clinical benefits over conventional radiation therapy in reducing late toxicity in adults remain uncertain for most indications.
