A Quadratic Boost Controller and Parameter Estimator Based on a Single State Measurement

In this paper, a state-estimate based controller is proposed for a quadratic boost converter (QBC). The controller uses only state observers for all but one of state variables. The only measured variable is the converter output voltage. The observer gains are designed based on linear matrix inequality (LMI) criteria which ensures exponential convergence of state estimates to the state vector. The proposed proportional-integral (PI) controller ensures asymptotic stability of the corresponding equilibrium point. In addition, a parameter estimator is used to track the unknown output load. The proposed parameter estimator tracks the actual converter load with zero error. Simulation results are used to verify the performance of the proposed controller, state observer and parameter estimator.
