Real-Time Simulation Method for Power Electronic Converters Based on the Ideal Switch Model
The ideal switch model has the advantage of low computation. However, ignoring the blocking mode will lead to the occurrence of zero-crossing oscillation in power electronic converter (PEC) models. To enable the ideal switch model to recognize blocking mode of the PECs, this article proposes a realtime simulation blocking mode recognition method based on the ideal switch model. By analyzing the voltage characteristics of the full-bridge arm in the blocking mode, the automatic switching between the blocking mode and the conducting mode is achieved with non-iterative operations. Finally, for a four-quadrant converter, it is implemented on field programmable gate array (FPGA) by writing the hardware description language. The simulation step size is only 20 ns.
