Design and Implementation of a LoRa-Based Tactical Communication System Using Low-Power Sensors
Contemporary military operations in remote and hostile environments face significant challenges due to unreliable or absent communication networks. This paper aims to develop a robust Tactical Communication System using LoRa (Long-Range) technology to facilitate real-time data transfer, enhance situational awareness, and minimize risks to military personnel. LoRa technology provides secure communication without relying on fixed infrastructure, making it ideal for remote areas and border surveillance. The system employs Raspberry Pi Pico as a low-power microcontroller for sensor integration and data processing. Integrated sensors include the DHT11 for temperature and humidity, PIR sensor for human motion detection, gas sensor for hazardous gas detection, OV7670 camera for image capture, and GPS module for location identification. Data from these sensors are processed by Raspberry Pi Pico, with images stored on an SD card. The LoRa module transmits sensor data and images to the base station, where another Raspberry Pi Pico connected to a display receives and presents the transmitted images. This system enables low-power operation and long-range communication, providing significant advantages for military surveillance and border security.
