Virtual Impedance Control Strategy for Grid-Forming Inverters to Suppress Transient Current
This paper proposes a transient overcurrent suppression method based on virtual impedance power compensation. To address the transient inrush current impact caused by switching operations and load transitions during black-start processes, the proposed method dynamically embeds a virtual impedance module. By real-time adjustment of the total system inductance to constrain current variations, the surge current peak is effectively reduced. The system employs a local parameter self-adaptation mechanism that dynamically updates virtual impedance values through proportional coefficients and local inductance measurements, overcoming the limitations of conventional methods relying on global parameters. Finally, the proposed control strategy is validated through Simulink simulation experiments. Results demonstrate that compared with traditional virtual impedance control strategies, this approach achieves enhanced suppression of transient overcurrent phenomena while improving system frequency stability and dynamic response performance.
