Pilot Protection Based on Energy-Statistics for Series-Compensated Outgoing Lines Connecting Doubly-Fed Wind Farms

In the series compensation outgoing line of the grid-connected system of doubly-fed wind farms, the fault current is very complex. This paper proposes a relay protection method based on the concept of energy statistics: the concept of energy statistics is applied to the protection, and its algorithm is modified to improve the sensitivity of the method. At the same time, new criteria are constructed for abnormal fault conditions to effectively improve its operation performance. Finally, the operating time of the proposed protection method under different fault conditions is tested on the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation platform to prove the effectiveness of the protection method in this paper.
