Dynamic Characteristics of Connectors in Offshore Floating Photovoltaic Arrays of Multiple Modules

This paper focuses on the dynamic response characteristics of connectors in offshore floating photovoltaic (FPV) arrays, employing the theories of three-dimensional potential flow and rigid module flexible connectors. It investigates connector behavior in operating environments characterized by very shallow water and significant tidal ranges. Initially, a combination of connector load, deformation, and floating body displacement is used to determine the appropriate connector stiffness. Additionally, the effects of tidal range variations and distances between floating bodies on the dynamic characteristics of connectors are further analyzed. The calculation results reveal that connector loads increase significantly at high tide, reaching depths that are considered the dangerous working depth. Moreover, maintaining a distance of 2.5 m between floating bodies proves to effectively reduces connector loads. This research offers valuable insights and guidance for the design and optimization of structural connectors in offshore FPV arrays.
