Study of Bursting Oscillations in VSG with External Excitation
To avoid the problem of virtual synchronous generator (VSG) oscillating and destabilizing under external excitation, this paper undertakes an investigation into the VSG's bursting oscillations and bifurcation mechanism when exposed to external excitation. This lays a theoretical foundation for avoiding the bursting oscillations, and it is imperative for the reliable functioning of the VSG system. Firstly, the dynamics model of VSG with external excitation is established. When, the external excitation is considered as a slowly varying parameter. Then the possible bifurcation of the system and corresponding bursting oscillation phenomenon are analyzed theoretically. Finally, the bursting oscillation phenomenon under the variation of VSG parameters and external excitation amplitude is analyzed by numerical simulation. In circumstances where the external excitation's frequency is considerably lower than VSG's intrinsic frequency, the phenomenon of bursting oscillation becomes observable.
