Data-Driven Learning: Assessing the Use of Visualization Tools in the Classroom

Effective data visualization is essential for developing analytical and communication skills, particularly in fields like healthcare where interpreting complex datasets is critical. However, integrating data visualization into educational curricula presents challenges, including balancing technical, analytical, and creative skills while ensuring relevance across various learning needs. This study addresses these challenges by integrating Looker Studio, a widely used data visualization tool, into the Medical Technology curriculum to provide students with practical experience in analyzing real-world healthcare data. The study employs surveys and feedback from undergraduate students to evaluate Looker Studio's effectiveness in enhancing essential learning skills such as data analysis, communication, and information management. The findings indicate that students found Looker Studio valuable for creating interactive visual reports, with positive feedback on its usability and relevance to real-world applications. This study highlights the potential of incorporating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools like Looker Studio to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, ultimately enhancing students' proficiency in data visualization within academic contexts.
