Cutting Edge Multifactor Authentication Implementation for Industrial Operations *
Industrial IoT has enabled automation in manufacturing industries thus enhancing productivity and efficiency. However, the increasing interconnectivity of industrial systems has also escalated cybersecurity risks such as stealing credentials and accessing Industrial Control Systems (ICS) causing physical damage to machineries and encrypting IoT systems and demanding ransomware for decryption and disrupting production by targeting Supervisory data acquisition systems. The existing system ensures single factor authentication which can easily be tampered by unauthorized persons. The proposed system explores authentication protocols tailored for industrial IoT environments, enabling Multi Factor Authentication in AWS cognito for IoT operators by storing the credentials and user roles in Cognito Directory. The AES algorithm is used for transferring and storing the user credentials to enhance secured access to the machines.
