IoT and GSM-Based Real-Time Monitoring System for Protection of Endangered Trees Against Illegal Cutting and Smuggling

Illegal cutting and smuggling of valuable trees, such as sandalwood, are one of the serious threats to the environment and the economy. The project is the development of a smart real-time monitoring system for the prevention of illegal cutting or theft of these trees using IoT and GSM technologies. The main controller for the system is Arduino Uno that receives readings from the sensors and transmits them to the cloud. The Blynk application generates real time notifications to the administrators, while an offline SMS notification is provided by the GSM module (SIM800C) in case of no network coverage. The system is affordable and scalable, and it can be used to protect valuable tree species such as teak, rosewood, and timber, supporting forest conservation.
