Analysis of the Influence of Clock Asynchronism on Fault Location of T-Connected Transmission Lines
T-connected transmission lines are widely used because of their compact topology and low construction cost. However, the complex operating environment makes it easy to fail, so quick fault detection is essential for maintaining power system stability. However, The adoption of classic approaches two-terminal fault location method to T-connected transmission lines faces two problems: First, the complex propagation path leads to the existence of location dead zone near the T node, in fact, the clock synchronization error can compromise fault location accuracy Accordingly, a method is presented for identifying the fault branch based on the traveling wave head's polarity when the fault occurs near T node and analyzes the impact of clock asynchronism on fault identification and its compensation method. The simulation results of PSCAD/EMTDC show that he method accurately identifies fault branches when faults are located near T nodes. And transition resistors and effectively analyze the law of distance measurement error caused by clock asynchronism, which provides a theoretical basis for delay compensation of field distance measurement devices.
