Temperature Simulation of Medium Voltage Cables Under Different Laying Environments in Nuclear Power Plants
With the increase of cables laid in nuclear power plants, the reasonable control of operating temperature is important for cable life and system safety. In this paper, the cable temperature simulation model is built on multi-physics coupling of electromagnetic, thermal and flow field. The temperature field of the cables under different laying environments with various configurations is analyzed in detail by COMSOL Multiphysics. The results show that for the outdoor tray laying environment, the cable temperature increases with the decrease of tray spacing. For the environment of indoor tray laying, the existence of ceiling weakens the heat exchange efficiency between cable and air, resulting in the rise of cable temperature. For the tunnel tray laying environment, when the wind speed increases from 1m/s to 4m/s, the cable temperature decreases from 62.8 ° C to 38.2 ° C. This paper's research establishes a theoretical foundation for the safe operation of medium voltage (MV) cables in nuclear power plants.
