A Method for Expanding the Operating Range of Aacaes Systems Based on Active Feedback Anti-Surge Control
The large-scale integration of new energy into the power system requires that the compressed air energy storage (CAES) system has a large regulation range to respond to the frequency modulation demand. Nonetheless, the occurrence of the surge phenomenon confines the minimum threshold of the system's power regulation, thereby diminishing the adaptability of the control. Therefore, modelling and suppression studies are necessary to address the surge phenomenon in CAES systems. This paper firstly proposes a system dynamic model capable of simulating the surge phenomenon, and analyzes the time-domain characteristics of the surge process based on the model. Subsequently, an anti-surge active feedback control strategy implemented using anti-surge valves(ASV) is proposed to inhibit the system from entering the surge phenomenon in the lowpower region by tracking control of the mass flow rate(MFR). Examples show that the control strategy proposed in this paper can effectively inhibit the occurrence of the surge phenomenon and thus extend the power regulation range of the system, which improves the regulation flexibility of the CAES system.
