Field-Circuit Co-Simulation Platform for Distribution Network Based on CloudPSS and Simdroid

With the rapid advancement of distributed renewable energy and power electronics technology, conventional simulation methods struggle to accurately couple device-level electromagnetic characteristics with system-level dynamic behavior, limiting the ability to optimize device design and evaluate system security. This study proposes a field-circuit coupling simulation approach integrating CloudPSS and Simdroid. Using the finite element method (FEM), a detailed electromagnetic-thermal multiphysics model of cables and transformers is developed, while electromagnetic transient simulation (EMT) is employed to analyze system-level dynamic behavior. A bidirectional data channel is established using the Python SDK, while a Redis event-driven mechanism is introduced to enable multi-rate simulation and optimize timing. Finally, the feasibility of this method was verified through simulations based on a real distribution network system.
