Visualizing Abstract Concepts - Development and Application of Digital Materials for Vocational Education Curriculum

This study advocates integrating digitized course resources with visual elements to enhance vocational college curriculum instruction. Taking the experimental determination of Poisson's ratio as an example, we developed a comprehensive model and generated digital resources via simulation. We incorporated these into the curriculum and conducted a teaching experiment with a control group of 36 students and an experimental group of 52 students. In the experimental group, after using the digital resources, a survey with seven questions was implemented, obtaining feedback from 52 students. The average scores of questions ranged from 8.65 to 9.61, showing students' high recognition. In the control group of 34 valid questionnaires, for questions F1-F3, the average scores were <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$4.67,8.63$</tex>, and 8.77 respectively. The findings confirm the feasibility and scientific validity of our approach. The digital resources significantly aided students in understanding abstract concepts, improving learning experiences with enhanced interactivity. This research model addresses the mechanics concept learning challenge and its promising results warrant educators' attention for further educational development.
