Double-End Grid-Forming Control Method for System of Photovoltaic Integrated to VSC-HVDC Based on Matching Control

This paper proposes a double-end grid-forming control strategy rooted in matching control for the system of PV integrated into VSC-HVDC. The proposed approach distinguishes itself from conventional strategies by employing a matching control-based grid-forming method at the receiving end. This approach offers the advantages of (i) active frequency and voltage support for the AC grid and (ii) flexible integration with weak grids and islanded systems at the receiving end. In MATLAB/Simulink, a simulation model of the PV-integrated VSC-HVDC system is built. In the case of power reference change and grid frequency change, the superiorities of the control strategy are demonstrated by simulation compared with the traditional grid-following control.
