AI Enhanced Spectacle for Visually Impaired People
The increased integration of Artificial Intelligence into healthcare and assistive technologies has improved the quality of life of the disabled population significantly. This paper focuses on an AI-assisted assistive system that is specifically useful for visually impaired people and has been developed based on real-time object detection and scene understanding with audio feedback. The system can, with high accuracy and efficiency, detect and classify objects within the user's environment using a YOLOv8-based convolutional neural network model. Enhanced further with NLP algorithms, the system provides immediate voice-based feedback that allows its users to be more independently navigated of their surroundings.
