Upgrade the efficiency of highly doped n-TiO2 window layer-based heterojunction Silicon solar cell through thickness profile optimization
The design and development of a heterojunction solar cell using p-type crystalline silicon, mildly doped a-Si, and strongly doped n-type titanium dioxide (TiO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>) window layer is investigated in this work. We examined the optical and electrical characteristics of the mentioned solar cell structure using the simulation tool AFORS-HET version 2.5. Multiple uses of TiO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> as an electron-selective layer and anti-reflection coating encourage charge carrier separation and increase the overall effectiveness of the device. Investigations are conducted and optimizations are made on the impact of layer thickness on device efficiency. The simulation findings demonstrate that, in the AM1.5G spectrum, highly doped TiO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>/n-a-Si/i-a-Si/p-c-Si based heterojunction solar cell may reach a maximum efficiency of 24.12%.
