Simulation of Novel Seven Level Inverter With Asymmetric Configuration
Multilevel inverters have gained considerable popularity in PV systems. Multilevel inverters have many advantages over conventional inverters, particularly for high-power applications. Generally, there is a greater demand for an AC voltage with a low Total harmonic distortion (THD). A new seven-level inverter for single-phase loads with low THD in the output is proposed in this paper, and the output waveform is improved because the multilevel inverter produces nearly sinusoidal output voltage waveforms; hence, the total harmonic distortion is also low. The switching losses also decrease. This study deals with the design and simulation of a novel 7-level inverter. The results were compared concerning the THD, distortion, and harmonic factors. From the simulation results, it is inferred that the asymmetrical configuration of the seven-level inverter (AC-SLI) provides better performance.
