Improved Adaptive Damping and Inertia Based Grid-Forming Control Strategy for Energy Storage Converter
Grid-forming energy storage converter plays important role in solving challenges like low inertia and weak damping in new energy-based power system. Its flexible inertia and damping control parameters have great potential in power system regulation, especially under dynamic conditions. However, grid-forming energy storage system often see fast inertia change, steady state output power error, when an adaptive damping inertia adjustment is applied in grid-forming energy storage converter. This paper adopts an improved adaptive damping and inertia based grid-forming control strategy for energy storage converter to optimize the system transient steady-state characteristics by introducing transient damping and buffer function to adjust damping and inertia parameters dynamically. At the same time, a small-signal model is established to analyze the influence of relevant control parameters on the system performance under multiple working conditions. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control are verified by MATLAB simulation.
