Implementation of Hybrid Powered DC Charging Station

This work presents an integrated control scheme for plug in electric vehicles using renewable energy source. Solar and wind sources are integrated and connected at the common dc bus. The power output from the solar and wind is boosted using the boost converter to match the busbar. The Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm is implemented in the photovoltaic (PV) system and wind system to maintain the peak power point under varying conditions, like irradiance, temperature and wind speed. The bi-directional converter is designed to transfer from common dc bus to the dc charging station. This helps for fast charging of the vehicles and unused energy at the charging station can be efficiently supply to the load. The obtained simulation results are analyzed in MatLab/Simulink for DC charging station at 10 kW, 40 kW and 70 kW and validated through experimentation.
