Research on Induced Voltage of Transmission Lines and Its Effect on Phase Selection Control Characteristics of Circuit Breakers
Phase selection control technology is a widely used method for line circuit breakers to suppress overvoltage caused by unload line energization and reclosure. This paper focuses on the induced voltage of multiple circuit lines mounted on the same tower, and its impact on phase selection control of circuit breakers. Technical details of phase selection control method including the fundamentals, determination of the target closing time are reviewed, as well as factors of induced voltage of multiple lines. Parameters of typical overhead lines and power cables are compared. Influences of induced voltage on unload line energization and residual voltage on three-phase reclosure are investigated. It is concluded that, the optimal closing time of multiple circuit lines should be the time that the induced voltage equal to the voltage of the grid, and the residual voltage and capacitance of power cables should be considered in phase selection reclosure and unload cable energization.
