Up-gradation of Multilevel Inverters for Smart Grid Applications
In the emerging world of innovation, people in recent centuries have been upgrading them and are using technology as a part and parcel of their lives. Hence it has become necessary to improvise the monotony of life routine with time by the upgradation of the existing technology. As a result of rigorous experiments, the ocean of technology has emerged as a part of the two rivers, science and engineering. In the earlier days we used to have only lighting and heating loads, hence it was insignificant to have a least distorted voltage from the supply for the utility. But nowadays as we deal with an increasing number of critical loads, it is essential to have continuous information and control over the quantities of the grid. Hence, we have been upgrading from conventional grid to smart grid (modernization of the electricity delivery system). Hence to have a quality power supply for the load premises, in recent years MLI (Multi Level Inverters) are employed as intermediary between the grid and the renewable energy resources such as solar photovoltaic power plants which yield dc as the output. These inverters have been proved to provide THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) with a satisfactory range of standards. This work emphasizes on carrying the performance analysis of MLI based on THD, efficiency reducing number of switches and switching losses etc.
