Optimal Energy Storage Configuration for High-Proportion Renewable Energy Independent Power Supply Systems
Due to the variability and intermittency of renewable energy sources, power supply reliability is considerably affected in wind-solar-hydro-biomass independent systems. In this paper, an optimization approach for energy storage configuration in wind-solar-hydro-biomass power supply systems is proposed to address the aforementioned issue. First, historical data on renewable energy generation is clustered to obtain typical output curves and their corresponding probabilities. The annual load curve is used to model the load of the independent power supply system as a planning scenario. Second, considering the reliability, economic, and environmental aspects of the independent system, the optimization model considering the full life cycle costs of the energy storage configuration in the wind-solar-hydro-biomass power supply system is comprehensively established. Finally, a case study of a wind-solar-hydro-biomass-storage power supply system is conducted to validate the proposed configuration approach. The impact of battery purchase price on the operational economy of the system's energy storage configuration is quantitatively assessed.
