RTDS Verification of Selective Inertia Response Control Strategy for Self-Synchronized DFIG WTG

With the rapid development of grid forming control strategy, self-synchronized control, as one type of grid forming control strategies, has gained much attention. As the inertia response enables wind turbine generator to adjust rotor speed based on the change of grid frequency, the current control strategy cannot be applied to wind turbine running at constant speed and power stage, since the rotor speed cannot be controlled higher than permitted highest rotor speed, or lower than lowest rotor speed. A selective inertia response control strategy is proposed to address this issue, which can control the direction of inertia response according to the wind turbine rotor speed, so that situation could be avoided for wind turbine running at Impermissible speed. The effectiveness of control strategy is verified through Real-Time Digital Simulator.
