Optimal Planning of Advanced Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage: An Equipment-Parameter-Free Modeling Approach
Advanced adiabatic compressed air energy storage (AA-CAES) exhibits a strong coupling correlation exists between electrical parameters and thermal parameters. The strong coupling among parameters renders the capacity configuration problem of AA-CAES inherently complex and computationally intractable. This paper proposes a planning method of AA-CAES using equipment-parameter-free modeling approach. In relation to the thermodynamic process of the AA-CAES in its general manifestation, an AA-CAES operating model is proposed, which can effectively curtail the degree of electro-thermal coupling. Besides, a planning model of AA-CAES is presented to minimize the investment cost and maximize oprating income. Subsequently, distributionally robust chance constraints (DRCC) are utilized to transform uncertainty sets into linear forms. Case studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
