High Precision Decaying DC Component Estimation Algorithm

The current phasor measurement algorithm does not take into account the decaying DC (DDC) component, which leads to suboptimal results when estimating phasors during system short-circuit faults. This limitation arises because the presence of the DDC component in the signal can significantly distort the accuracy of phasor estimation, especially under fault conditions. To address this issue, the estimation of DDC pairs, which are embedded within the signal, can enhance the overall accuracy of phasor estimation, even when there are disturbances or system perturbations. In this paper, we introduce an iterative method for DDC estimation based on energy spectrum analysis. This method allows for quick and precise estimation of the DDC component, improving the robustness of the algorithm. The effectiveness of this proposed DDC estimation technique is evaluated through simulations. The results of these simulations show that our algorithm offers significant improvements in estimation accuracy when compared to the traditional Taylor model estimation method. This enhanced precision is crucial in systems where fault conditions are prevalent, ensuring more reliable phasor measurement and fault detection. The findings demonstrate the potential of the proposed method for real-world applications where accurate phasor estimation is critical.
