Secret Sharing Enabling Multi-Operations on FPGA Design for Multi-party Computation in Storage Systems
Multi-party computation (MPC), a cryptographic primitive, allows several parties to jointly determine a function’s value without leaking their private inputs to others. Secret sharing, a primary method in MPC, distributes a private input secret into several secure shares to protect users’ privacy. It is widely used in MPC implementation and distributed secure storage systems. Despite its computational efficiency, its sensitivity to communication latency is a limitation. However, the Field programmable gate array (FPGA) can mitigate these issues by providing low latency and high bandwidth communication. Firstly, our work introduces an FPGA-based design optimized for secret sharing. Secondly, implementing complex rather than simple instructions can notably decrease communication rounds. Implemented on the UltraScale+ VU13P FPGA, our design achieves about 50% faster than previous implementations, demonstrating substantial improvements in performance and efficiency.
