THE ROLE OF LANDSCAPE IN THE COLLECTION OF SHORT STORIES "THEN AND NOW” BY A. JAFAROV
The article examines the role of landscape descriptions in the creative heritage of the Tabasaran writer A.P. Jafarov using the example of the collection of short stories “Then and Now". The landscape in this work performs a variety of functions, including creating a national flavor. The writer attempts to enhance the social colouring of the work and reveal its main idea through the description of nature descriptions. To do this, various maens are used to convey the author’s attitude to what is happening and create a specific psychological mood for the perception of the text. The authors of the article consider the landscape as a means of marking the time and place of events, creating an emotional background and revealing the emotional experiences of the characters. The identification of the principles of creating landscape descriptions and the analysis of their functions in the collection of short stories “Then and Now", the first prose work in the literature of the Tabasarans, provides an opportunity for a more in-depth study of the functions of nature descriptions both in the work of this Tabasaran writer and in the literature of the peoples of Dagestan at large.
