DEVELOPING CHINESE SCHOOLCHILDREN’S INTEREST IN CHILDREN’S PIANO MUSIC BY S. S. PROKOFIEV

The piano works of S. S. Prokofiev, the great Russian composer and pianist of the 20th century, are almost unknown in China, since they are practically not included in the programs of general music education. At the same time, listening to pieces from the piano cycle “Children’s Music" by S. S. Prokofiev in music lessons as well as their learning in the context of extracurricular musical activities can awaken Chinese schoolchildren’s interest in these works as a reflection of the bright and kind world of childhood in Russia. In the current geopolitical situation this is especially relevant. The purpose of the article is to reveal the academic and methodological foundations for nurturing the interest of Chinese schoolchildren in the children’s piano music of S. S. Prokofiev in the conditions of primary general education. The article contains a rationale for the relevance of the study, a review of theoretical sources and the main results of experimental work on nurturing the interest of Chinese schoolchildren in the children’s piano music of S. S. Prokofiev. As a result, it is concluded that the main pedagogical conditions for cultivating the interest of Chinese schoolchildren in the children’s piano music of S. S. Prokofiev are: its inclusion in the curriculum of the subject “Music" for primary general education in China and in the educational repertoire for extracurricular music activities; performance of this music by piano students in school music lessons; demonstration by the music teacher of paintings, photographs, films and other visual materials about the life of children in Russia, the history and culture of the country, illustrating the artistic and figurative content of pieces from S. S. Prokofiev’s piano cycle “Children’s Music".
