A 72‐Year‐Old Man With a History of Rheumatoid Arthritis Presenting With Unilateral Eye and Jaw Pain

An elderly man with a past medical history notable for rheumatoid arthritis presents with unilateral left temple, eye, and gum pain associated with jaw fatigue. He describes the pain as lancinating and recurring several times a day. Physical examination reveals intermittent bursts of protrusion of the jaw to the right. Visual acuity is 20/25 in the right eye and 20/20 in the left eye. Imaging findings are consistent with a left trigeminal schwannoma (Figure 1). This interactive case further describes the presentation, diagnostic evaluation, and management options for trigeminal schwannomas. Trigeminal schwannoma. Mohamad Rani Hassoun prepared and wrote initial manuscript. Neena R. Cherayil reviewed and edited final manuscript. The authors declare no conflicts of interest.
