AGRICULTURAL EXPORT IN THE CONTEXT OF ECONOMIC INNOVATION TRANSFORMATION: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

The article provides a comprehensive examination of the development, current status, and future prospects of Ukraine’s agri-food exports from 2000 to 2024, emphasising the strategic importance of innovation and resilience in wartime conditions. Over the last two decades, Ukraine has transformed from a net importer into one of the world’s leading agricultural exporters. The study analyses export dynamics by year, including significant milestones such as the signing of the EU Association Agreement and the impact of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. It offers detailed insights into export volumes and values, market destinations, and product categories, including cereals, oilseeds, meat, and dairy products. The article reveals the structural challenges faced by Ukrainian agriexporters, particularly the dominance of raw commodities in the export portfolio, which limits value generation and heightens exposure to global price shocks. In response to these vulnerabilities, the study proposes a framework for export transformation through innovation. Key strategies include expanding high-value processing capacities, developing alternative logistics corridors (especially through EU neighbouring states), and leveraging digital technologies to improve traceability, sustainability, and compliance with international standards. One of the core contributions of the article is a schematic model that outlines the main export challenges, necessary innovation-driven actions, and anticipated outcomes. These include the diversification of export markets, increased competitiveness through higher-value products, and improved foreign exchange stability. The model integrates key concepts such as supply chain adaptation, public-private investment in agro-industrial infrastructure, and regulatory alignment with the EU single market.
