Sustainable energy generation through solid waste-to-energy conversion

Co-pyrolysis, the thermal breakdown of two or more materials simultaneously, offers a viable way to value-add plastic waste and agricultural residues. To assess the feasibility of energy recovery and waste management, this study looks into the co-pyrolysis of polypropylene waste and mustard sludge. Product distribution is estimated using experimental investigation, which includes gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Co-pyrolysis's synergistic impacts on the yields of products, including bio-oil, char, and gases, are assessed. Furthermore, the effects of process variables on co-pyrolysis performance are examined, including temperature, heating rate, and feedstock ratio. Based on the obtained results, co-pyrolysis has the potential to be a helpful process for transforming mixed feedstocks into valuable energy products while reducing the environmental impact of disposing of plastic and agricultural waste. Techno-economic and ecological evaluations are carried out to investigate further the viability and sustainability of putting co-pyrolysis technology into practice on a bigger scale. This work advances our understanding of co-pyrolysis processes by offering insights into the creation of integrated waste management methods for sustainable resource usage and environmental conservation.
