Analysis of factors influencing material management in the construction industry
Material management in construction works is a critical concern, with an impact in terms of cost, efficiency, and timely delivery. In an endeavour to comprehend and investigate critical factors that affect material management in construction, in this study, a systematic approach is adopted, starting with a critical review of relevant studies in an endeavour to obtain critical influencing factors, and then cross-verifying them with expert consultation with professionals in the construction field. For collecting information regarding factors that affect material management, a five-point Likert scale-based, structured questionnaire is designed, and field experiences of professionals in construction works are utilized for information collection. A one-way ANOVA analysis is conducted to test the impact at a statistical level. Relative Importance Index (RII) is adopted for ranking factors in terms of impact. The findings provide a comprehensive understanding of material management challenges and highlight priority areas for improvement.
