Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Review of Indian Literature
The rising incidence of HCC in India is concerning, with major contributing factors being chronic hepatitis B and C infections, alcohol consumption, and metabolic associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Furthermore, challenges such as limited screening programs, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, and high treatment costs hinder early diagnosis and effective management. This review surveys the literature on HCC in India, emphasizing its prevalence, key risk factors, current surveillance practices, and available treatment strategies.
