Powieść Iłariona Pawluka "Я бачу, вас цікавить пітьма" jako thriller neo-noir

The research paper concerns the novel by Ilarion Pavluk 'Я бачу, вас цікавить пітьма' published in 2020 by the Stary Lew Publishing House. The work became a bestseller and was shortlisted for the “BBC Book of the Year 2020” competition. It is a crime-thriller, and therefore genre prose, characterized by a conventionalized plot and a number of repetitive motifs. However, the work contains elements of Gothicism and mysticism, and is also a kind of pop culture morality tale with significant infernal symbolism. In the paper, I propose an analysis in the context of the poetics of the postmodern neo-noir trend, using a methodology from the borderland of literary and film studies.
