Part-time university counselors face issues such as excessive stress, role maladjustment, overwork, and low social support, all of which may trigger job burnout. Additionally, personal factors like age, inexperience, and over-involvement in clients’ problems can increase the risk of burnout. Job burnout has negative impacts on counselors’ physical and mental health, counseling effectiveness, turnover risk, and quality of life. To address this, this paper proposes strategies including mindfulness training, enhancing psychological flexibility, strengthening psychological empowerment, and using humor. These strategies help alleviate job burnout and improve counselors’ work engagement and effectiveness. Implementing these measures can reduce the level of job burnout among counselors, enhancing their job satisfaction and quality of life.
