Clinical and laboratory evaluation of multiparous women with iron deficiency anemia

The study involved 110 pregnant women aged 18 to 44 years. The control group (group I) consisted of 21 healthy women. Due to the increased need for vitamins and minerals during pregnancy, significant changes occurred in overweight women with iron deficiency anemia who did not receive treatment (the main group). So, in the comparison group, the vitamin D level in the third trimester was 30.1±1.6 Me=32.7(28.1–33.4), while in the main group it was 14.2±0.4 Me=13.5(12.9–15.6) (pH<0.001), compared with the control group p<0.001. In women with iron deficiency anemia, compared with the control group, there was a significant change in micronutrient levels, which was most pronounced in the last trimester of pregnancy. The main reason is that the vitamin and mineral status undergoes significant changes towards the end of pregnancy due to the intensive development of the fetus.
