MANIFESTATIONS OF NATIONAL IDENTITY IN SOLO VIOLIN WORKS BY UKRAINIAN COMPOSERS OF THE 21 ST CENTURY

The solo violin works of contemporary Ukrainian composers are studied in terms of the manifestation of signs of national identity. The content of the concept of “national identity” and the features of its most important cultural components embodied in music are clarified: ethnic (folk song quotations, folklore genre and intonation), state-political (quoting the anthem as a state symbol), worldview-religious (quoting samples of church singing culture). Information on the history of the creation and performance of works in which composers and violinists of the twentyfirst century consciously mark national identity is collected. The author identifies such forms and methods of using Ukrainian folklore in professional musical creativity as quoting from Viktor Telychko (“Carpathian Partita”), Serhiy Kadenko (“Tykha-Tykha” fantasy), Serhiy Bolotnyi (Ukrainian Caprices and Transcriptions of Folk Songs for Solo Violin), stylization of folk dance by Oleksandr Honobolin (“Dance”), interpretation of genre markers of duma by Liudmyla Yurina (“Duma”) and kolomyika by Dmytro Malyi (“Seven Words about Kolomyika”). The dramaturgical function of the national anthem melody in Taras Zdaniuk's play “07-12. Der Erste Fliegeralarm” and the cycle ‘Integral Slaven’ by Kyrylo Stetsenko. The markers of Orthodox sacred music in the plays by Oleh Bezborodko “Follia Ruthenica” and Taras Zdaniuk “Prayer for Ukraine” are revealed. It is concluded that there is a tendency to mark the signs of national identity in works for solo violin by Ukrainian composers of the twenty-first century and to expand the range of signs and symbols used to denote it in music (ethnic, state-political, religious). This is due to the political and ideological vectors of the development of the Ukrainian state since independence and the marked intensification of these processes due to martial law and the need to emphasize and assert one's own identity in all cultural and artistic spheres, including the concert activities of leading Ukrainian violinists, both in Ukraine and abroad.
