The Role of the Armenian Merchants Terzievs in the Social and Economic Life of Maikop in the Second Half of the 19th - Early 20th Century
The article analyzes the contribution of the Armenian merchants Terzievs to the socio-economic and cultural development of Maikop in the late 19th - early 20th century. The main focus is on Vasily Dmitrievich and Makar Borisovich Terziev, who played a key role in the establishment of educational and charitable institutions such as the Maikop Mountain School and the Holy Osiev Brotherhood. Their entrepreneurial activities and contribution to cultural projects, including the construction of the Pushkin People's House, are also considered. Despite the difficult social and political conditions, including municipalization after the October Revolution, the activities of this family contributed to the cultural integration and development of the local community. It is revealed that the Terziev family, representing the Armenian community, was not only engaged in entrepreneurship, but also actively participated in public life, which influenced the formation of the cultural and educational space of the city. The Terzievs' contribution to the development of Maikop was significant and left an indelible mark on the history of the city, despite the destruction of their heritage during the Soviet period.
