Domestic Life Amidst a Logging Economy in Menifee County, Kentucky
Abstract This research note provides a summary of archival, oral historical, and archaeological investigations into two early twentieth-century domestic sites situated along the East Fort of Indian Creek in Menifee County, Kentucky. The occupants participated in farming, trapping, and especially in the harvesting of timber. Archaeology provides a glimpse into the material culture in use at the sites, and the family histories showcase the wide range of local adaptations to the logging economy.
