FORMATION OF THE VOCAL-POP CULTURE OF THE PERSONALITY

The presented article substantiates the importance of modernizing the system of arts and pedagogical education, focusing on improving the professional training of future music educators, particularly in shaping the vocal-pop culture of the individual within the context of the information society. It is emphasized that in the current socio-cultural environment, due to the widespread availability of the internet and social media, individuals have unrestricted access to music of various genres and styles. However, much of this musical content often fails to meet generally accepted standards of quality and artistic taste. Scholars point to the increasing fascination–especially among youth–with low-quality, commercially oriented music products. This situation is further exacerbated by the lack of effective tools among most music educators at all levels to counter such tendencies. As a result, in recent years, there has been a significant decline in the overall cultural level, critical thinking, and musical taste of individuals, which negatively affects the development of society’s musical culture. The study includes an analysis of scholarly literature addressing the outlined issue. The definitions of key concepts–such as "musical culture," "vocal-pop culture," and "pop music"–are examined. The main components and levels of vocal-pop culture are identified, along with its primary functions. It is highlighted that, under current socio-cultural conditions, vocal-pop culture has become an integral part of not only personal development but also of the broader cultural life of society. The preference for vocal-pop music over other musical genres and styles is substantiated. It is noted that the finest examples of this genre represent a true cultural treasure on both global and national levels–particularly in the cultural contexts of China and Ukraine–as they possess substantial educational and cultural potential, which is crucial for shaping vocal-pop culture as a component of musical culture. The article also addresses the issue of modernizing the system of arts and pedagogical education, specifically regarding the quality preparation of future educators to foster vocal-pop culture in individuals, considering the emerging challenges and needs of the information society. The main findings of the conducted research are presented, along with prospects for further scientific exploration on the subject. Recommendations are provided for university instructors and departments responsible for training future music educators.

Abstract

The main findings of the conducted research are presented, along with prospects for further scientific exploration on the subject.
