COMMUNICATION ETHICS AS AN INTEGRAL COMPONENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE TRAINING OF STUDENTS IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of verbal communication in the process of foreign language training in higher educational institutions, in particular, to the issues of communication ethics as a friendly manner of interaction at the interpersonal and group levels. The value of the disposition to understanding and friendliness, which manifest themselves in friendly communicative behavior, especially the delicacy of expressing thoughts, which indicates respect for the interlocutor and determines the need to create the beauty of communication, is highlighted. The importance of enhancing students’ ethical consciousness and self-awareness when teaching them foreign languages in higher school is substantiated, since ethics as a quality of personality is developing as a fundamental principle of effective professional activity under the conditions of in-depth digitalization and globalization, and the art of communication is becoming an integral component of the professional competence and competitiveness of a modern specialist. The article analyzes the psychological and pedagogical conditions for improving students’ ethical communication skills, and in a broad sense, as effective interaction in society, which is the main objective of this study; highlights the essence and factors of the formation of a moral personality, in particular by means of foreign language training, which ensures the assimilation of cultural heritage and values of universal human culture, whose inclusion is made possible, first of all, thanks to language, which is inseparable from thinking, and therefore from human consciousness. The scientific findings of this research regard the content of foreign language instruction, which should offer models for solving ethical issues; the motivation of moral activity as a system of moral impulses of the individual and, at the same time, the process of value selection of the most significant motives for decision-making; a personally oriented approach to teaching foreign languages at university, which ensures the development of intellectual and moral self-regulation skills, as well as the correct use of non-verbal means of communication ‒ the language of not only gestures, but also feelings, which is an integral part of the art of communication. Further research on this topic could be determining psychological and pedagogical conditions for the development of cognitive culture of higher school students by means of foreign language training as a factor of ethical culture.
