HISTORIOGRAPHY OF THE STUDY OF THE PROBLEM OF AESTHETIC EDUCATION IN THE UKRAINIAN FAMILY OF THE 19TH – EARLY 20TH CENTURY
The article analyzes the works of scientists who directly or indirectly touched upon the study of the problem of aesthetic education in the family and identifies the directions of their research: the functions of parents in raising children; national traditions and practice of family education; aesthetic education of children by means of art; the development of an aesthetic sense by means of nature; aesthetic education in pre-school establishments and others. The authors separately highlight publications that reveal the traditions of raising children in the Ukrainian family, passed down from generation to generation. Among the studied scientific works, special attention is given to research on general issues of family education, in which aspects of aesthetic education are indirectly considered. Among the studied scholarly works, special attention is given to research on general issues of family education, in which aspects of aesthetic education are indirectly considered. A significant factor in the process of forming an individual’s aesthetic values is the cultural and family-household influence. The character of the ethnic group, its integral spiritual and aesthetic heritage, leaves an imprint on the lives of every family and its members. Therefore, the article focuses on publications that explore family education through the lens of ethnopedagogy. The key determining factor for the success of aesthetic education in the family is the close and balanced interaction of all educational institutions. The authors refer to publications that examine the role of cooperation between the family, educational institutions, and the public in aesthetic education, with their shared goal being the formation of children’s understanding of beauty, aesthetic culture, and a caring attitude towards people and nature. The issue discussed in the publication has been the subject of research not only in pedagogy but also in ethnology. The authors have paid attention to materials from ethnographic expeditions conducted in Ukraine in the second half of the 20th and early 21st centuries. These studies reveal aspects of daily life, family relationships, and ethnoregional differences in child-rearing, household activities, including food preparation, housing construction, toy-making, and clothing production. At the beginning of the 21st century, Ukrainian ethnographers shifted their focus to studying the world of children, childhood, and children’s subcultures, leading to the emergence of the first fundamental works in this field. In the context of this study, significant importance is given to scholarly works that highlight the problem of aesthetic values, define their content, and thoroughly examine the aesthetic orientations of individuals. The most important of these orientations is the aspiration toward the ideals of goodness, which enables a person to develop aesthetically and cultivate the best human qualities. The analysis of scientific studies has shown that the aesthetic aspect of education has been considered from multiple perspectives. However, in no research has the problem of children’s aesthetic education in the family conditions of the 19th – early 20th century been specifically addressed.
