A Study on Universal Seaport in Vietnam Using Queueing Network

The article discusses the challenge of modeling the operations of a universal seaport. The mathematical model has the form of a queueing network that takes into account the influence of random factors on both the arrival of vehicles and the duration of cargo processing within the system. We use separate, non-ordinary request flows to describe the arrival of cargo by two types of transportation with significantly different capacity. Various types of queueing network nodes, including non-stationary ones, are used to model the structural elements of the port, taking into account their different operational characteristics. The object of the study is one of the largest seaports in the northern economic region of Vietnam. Based on the results of the simulation, we have drawn conclusions about the current capacity of the port, identified bottlenecks in its infrastructure, and obtained a forecast of capacity with increasing volumes of cargo traffic.
