Geomagnetic Pulsation Bursts During Stationary Magnetospheric Convection Events
The study is devoted to the analysis of the characteristics of PiB-type geomagnetic pulsations during two events of stationary magnetospheric convection (SMC) selected from the list by Kissinger, 2022 [1], based on data from two geomagnetic observatories of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It has been established that during SMC events, multiple periods of generation of broadband PiB-type pulsations are observed, which occur even with minor changes in the external parameters of the solar wind-magnetosphere system and geomagnetic activity indices. It is shown that under conditions of increased geomagnetic activity, PiB pulsations during active SMC are significantly more pronounced at mid-latitudes than during moderate SMC. At the same time, the short-period component of PiB pulsations at mid-latitudes is absent during moderate SMC. The results of the work emphasize the importance of simultaneously using data on PiB pulsations at high and mid-latitudes for accurate timing of activity enhancement processes during SMC and compiling lists of such events.
