A dataset of ultrasonic temperature measurement system based on microwave thermotherapy antenna

In clinical treatment, microwave thermotherapy has been proven to make up for the shortcomings of traditional surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and improve the cure rate and remission rate of malignant tumors. However, conventional thermotherapy often lacks real-time temperature monitoring and relies heavily on physicians’ experience, which compromises scientific precision. For this reason, we designed and compiled a dataset of ultrasound thermometry system based on microwave thermotherapy antenna. During the experiment, we chose tissue-mimicking phantom materials to simulate human biological tissues and constructed two ultrasound temperature measurement experimental systems based on different thermotherapy antennas. The B-mode ultrasound equipment was used to capture images, while the microwave thermotherapy device (equipped with a microwave ablation needle and a waveguide antenna) was used to heat up the tissue, and the thermocouple temperature measurement equipment was used to synchronously record the temperature data, resulting in total of 45 sets of ultrasound imaging data and corresponding temperature data. After the image data were preprocessed, we verified the reliability and validity of the dataset using the parameter estimation method of Nakagami-m distribution. To ensure high data quality, we also performed rigorous data cleaning, validation, and integration of the dataset, which helped enhanced the dataset quality and the credibility of the study results. This dataset provides insight into the physical changes of tissues at different temperatures by analyzing ultrasound images and thermocouple temperature measurement data, serving as a valuable resource for theoretical studies of microwave thermotherapy.

Abstract

In clinical treatment, microwave thermotherapy has been proven to make up for the shortcomings of traditional surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and improve the cure rate and remission rate of malignant tumors.
