Efikasiteti i fibrinës së pasur me trombocite në kombinim me graftin sintetik në rigjenerimin e defekteve infrakockore parodontale
Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease character ized by the progressive destruction of the tooth-support ing structures. In its advanced stages, it often manifests with infrabony defects, which pose significant therapeutic challenges for regenerative treatments due to their com plex morphology. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is an autologous biomaterial that has demonstrated efficacy in promoting periodontal regeneration through the sustained release of growth factors. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the clinical and radiographic effectiveness of the synthetic graft material 4MATRIX alone and in combination with PRF in the treatment of periodontal infrabony defects. This study was conducted using a split-mouth design, in cluding two groups: Group A was treated with 4MATRIX alone, while Group B received a combination of 4MATRIX and PRF. Clinical evaluations were conducted at four time points (baseline, and at 6, 12, and 18 months post-treat ment), measuring periodontal parameters and assessing bone structure changes using Cone-Beam Computed To mography (CBCT). The results showed significant improve ments across all clinical parameters in the PRF group, par ticularly in the reduction of probing pocket depth (PPD), improvement in clinical attachment level (CAL), and bone regeneration, as confirmed by CBCT imaging. The com bination of PRF with 4MATRIX demonstrates a synergistic effect in the regeneration of periodontal infrabony defects, offering an effective, biologically stable, and clinically ap plicable therapeutic approach. Keywords: periodontal infrabony pockets, periodontal bone regeneration, PRF.
